The neck of this
horse is made from a very old piece of stage coach
horse harness found in central Montana. You can see
the ring where a section of leather rein passed
through back to the stage driver.

In salvage yards, old car bodies
are picked up by a crane with huge claws which quickly
crunch them to about one third their original size as
they are lifted into another frightening machine which
further crushes them into a large cube. I pried and
torched one of these cubes apart and found the
ingredients for Sally inside. |

The inside body of
Tall Tabitha, viewed from the top, is composed of
cast off, quarter inch thick, odd shaped pieces from
steel fabricators who stamp out various shapes from
large steel sheets, then discard the unwanted
remnants. I welded these together for an interesting
looking digestive system for Tabitha.

Timothy’s left front
leg is from an old, red Farmall tractor. The rest of
Tim, including his high hump, is an eclectic mix of
old crunched car and machinery parts.

Found steel, with the
unique colors and textures not possible to achieve
with newly painted surfaces, comes from Montana
salvage yards, where old cars, farm and ranch
machinery, mining equipment, oil drums, and other
metal detritus, some of which dates back fifty to
one hundred years are laid to rest. Hence "Bucko".
